There are many reasons to keep a journal. It can help us process our thoughts and be more organized. But there’s obviously more.
Today I want to share some of the benefits I’ve noticed from my journey with journaling.
Maybe after I’m done telling you all about it we can exchange a few secrets? *wink* *wink* 😉
- Specific Goals Are Achievable Goals
When you write your goals in a journal it becomes easier to know what you want to do. Sometimes we want to achieve so many things in our lives that we lose track of other smaller details. Journaling helps remind us of what we need to do next and it becomes much easier to keep track of everything.
- You’ll know how far you’ve come
Keeping a journal also helps you know how much progress you’ve made. Take some time to read everything you’ve written months or even years before and you’ll notice some changes that may even bring a smile to your face.
- You start to gain more confidence in yourself
The important thing in any journal is to be honest with yourself, no matter what. And there’s nothing more satisfying than looking back at challenges you thought were really difficult and seeing how you overcame them. This can give you a nice confidence boost especially if you’re facing a challenge in the present.
Instead of being pessimistic you’ll probably think. “I know I can do this! I’ve faced many challenges but I’m still here!”
This is the mindset I can only hope is embraced by all my fellow goddesses.
4) Your writing and communication skills will improve
The more you write, the more your voice and style improve. As you continue journaling you’ll start to find new techniques to express and communicate more effectively.
And if you begin to communicate effectively imagine how much that helps you connect with others on a deeper level. It can even help you share your collection of ideas far much better, and we all know how that does wonders for networking with other business partners.
5) Less stress and anxiety
When you are overcome by painful thoughts or too much stress, putting it down on paper often helps. A journal helps us organize our thoughts in a way that’s easy for us to manage.
With everything on the page, we might even come up with a solution to whatever is giving us problems.
6) You will improve your memory
There are published studies in Psychology that show how writing things down improves memory. The more you write in your journal the more your mind connects dots for you.
And we all know once your memory improves, it does wonders for everything else in your life. Distractions will no longer cause you to forget things as often and you will probably have more focus because of it. And if you have more focus you become more productive. And if you’re more productive you get a lot of work done in a short space of time. The list goes on.
