The thing I absolutely love about the internet is how I can easily get access to information that may seem lost to time. You can find a video of something funny that happened years ago or even a movie from a time when you weren’t even born.
Sometimes we get so caught up in our own struggles that we don’t notice what other people like ourselves are doing. Today I decided to check in on our fellow ladies. There are so many of them across time, race and culture — all sharing their words of wisdom based on their own experiences.
I thought it would be fun to connect our own energy with theirs. By reading these quotes, you and I may find knowledge that we may not yet have realized we needed.
“Of course I’m not worried about intimidating men. The type of man who will be intimidated by me is exactly the type of man I have no interest in.”
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Lol worded perfectly. I want it on a shirt.
“I can promise you that women working together – linked, informed and educated – can bring peace and prosperity to this forsaken planet.”
I really like this quote. It speaks to one of the many values I cherish. Unity.
The power ladies hold is a lot. Now try to imagine all of that power united. We would move mountains.
“I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own.”
This is the kind of energy we need ladies. Looking out for each other at every turn. A lot of struggles come in our way as women; let’s not be one of them.
“I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat.”
We are not small. And we will never be.
“I want to build a community where women of all races can communicate and … continue to support and take care of each other. I want to give women a space to feel their own strength and tell their stories. That is power.”
“Maybe it just boils down to: I’m a woman who’s really into her career, so I’m obsessed with the craft of my work. … There’s a romance in that for me.”
One of the best love stories ever told to be honest.
“I’m tough, ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a b*tch, okay.”
No matter how kind and compassionate you are, there will always be people telling you you’re this or you’re that. That’s the difference between gossipers and goddesses.
Goddesses flourish while gossipers continue to be witnesses of that flourishing. Don’t ever be discouraged by these people, it’s what they want. You should never ask for permission to chase your dreams; simply reach for them.
“There is no gate, no lock, no bolt that you can set upon the freedom of my mind.”
See, people can steal your jewellery, they can say whatever they want to say, but they can never tell your mind what to think. Your feminine power comes from within, not from others. Embrace it.
Nothing infuriates your enemies more than that.
