When people talk about creative thinking, they sometimes assume it starts and ends with art. This is obviously not true.
Creative thinking is our ability to think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions and ideas. It’s that X factor that allows even the most tough situations to be viewed as a challenge and not another obstacle in the way.
I don’t think I can overstate the usefulness of creative thinking in this day and age. I like to believe the more we work on our creative thinking the more we become self-sufficient and generally competent at what we do.
The more innovative we are with our ideas, the more we make use of our hidden potential and resources.
Does the idea of working on this skill sound tasty? I sure hope so, because we’re about to detail ways we can improve this magical ability.
- Collaborate with others
The idea here is to learn integration, merging our style with someone else’s. When we work with others we push ourselves to do better and not fall behind. And by interacting with different people we begin considering ways in which we can think differently.
And when we think differently, we give a chance to different possibilities and take risks. Besides, what is a life without risk? A boring one I would say.
- Make Time To Do What You Love
Hiking, Knitting, Cooking, Modelling or Tik Toking your hearty away. It’s on you girl, you know yourself better than anyone else in this world.
Taking the time to do something you love can relieve stress and let your mind wander. And when our mind wanders our creativity is given a big boost.

- Do Nothing
Yeah, you heard me. Unplug from everything for a bit.
There is too much information overload in the world right now; on social media and even in the news.
Hit the power button on all your devices and just chill for a bit. Touch grass and take a walk if you have to.
- Have A Few Friends Over As Sounding Boards
Get a couple of snacks, get cozy and have your Goddess Gang come over your place for a chat or sleep-over. Bounce some ideas around and hear what they have to say.
Sometimes we get so caught up being in our own heads we forget there’s a world out there and it leaves us thinking of the same ideas over and over again. That’s like, the opposite, of creativity.
By bouncing our ideas around people we trust we can iron out the creases. Different people carry different perspectives, and that’s what makes meeting new people fascinating.
Don’t under-estimate the potential your trusted friends carry. Hearing their thoughts about your ideas might help spark new and better ones.
- Welcome New Learning Experiences
Arrogance is the enemy of creativity. We close off new ideas when we believe we’re done learning about the world and ourselves.
Creative thinking has a lot to do with connecting ideas and finding opportunities or areas that no-one has explored.
When we allow ourselves to learn, we increase the possibility of finding new information that could prove useful to us in our creative experience.
Think of it like a firmware update on your phone.
Firmware updates introduces new features on top of the ones you already have. They also get rid of any bugs that interfere with the phone’s overall performance. When a new update is available, we download it because it’s most certainly an improvement.
We don’t want to be stuck in our ways and refuse the chance to get a few firmware update in our lives. Let’s make room for creative thinking by encouraging ourselves to learn more.
